Henderson County is located in Western North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hendersonville, the county seat, is 22 miles south of Asheville and 15 miles north of the North-South Carolina border. Hendersonville is known for its 4 Seasons due to the plateau it sits upon at approximately 2,200 feet above sea level making it a destination for people looking for fall leaves, mild summers, spring blooms, and winters with the occasional snow.

Henderson County Public Schools operates 23 schools: 13 elementary, 4 middle, 6 high schools. HCPS is known for being one of the top school districts in the state and has one of the highest graduation rates in the state.

There are multiple private schools and charter schools in the county and surrounding areas, including Fernleaf Community Charter School located in Fletcher. Blue Ridge Community College is located in Flat Rock 5 minutes south of Hendersonville. Multiple other notable colleges and universities are located in the immediate area.
